  1. That would just trigger the Iranians to target the GCC plant & cause a Middle East humanitarian crisis

  2. He could even destroy the world with atomic bombs, and he’d still be the biggest loser of all time.

  3. Yeah, that would be a war crime and Iran would blow up Qatar, Saudi, Kuwati, and everyone else’s desal plants and millions would die and the US economy would collapse and it would probably mean nuclear war.

Then Trump will say “No one had any idea!”

  4. The Supreme Court says he is immune to prosecution for all things in his official act as President. I didn’t realize that would cover war crimes as well, but here we are.

This is a great way to get Iran trying to blow dirty bombs on the American mainland. American or Israel killing civilians will create generations of terrorists.

  6. HistorianOrdinary833 on

Inviting Iran to blow up the Israeli and Gulf State desalination plants. I’m pretty sure they have more dependence on desalination than Iran.

  7. SomeBaldDude2013 on

And in response, Iran would destroy all of the desalination plants in the Middle East, causing the worst refugee crisis in human history as over 150 million people would suddenly have no access to water.

    Edit: correction for population

  8. StrangelyErotic on

The desalination plants are more impactful in the gulf states. They do this, Iran will retaliate and Riyadh will have to be evacuated

  9. AccomplishedSoft1350 on

Dang. I hate the IRCG and Iranian regime as much as anyone, but this sort of action would kill of millions of innocent Iranians.

And it plays right into the regime’s trap, as they do not give a dang. Heck they’ll set it up so all the regime opponents die of thirst, while the regime loyalist gets all the water.

  10. SayNoToFirefighters on

Do that and this will turn into WW3.

Fucking with Oil is one thing, Water War will definitely take it 10x folds up

  11. God_Bless_A_Merkin on

What a fucking idiot. Iran is one of the few countries in the Middle East that *doesn’t* get a majority of its drinking water from desalinization.

The day is coming soon when we will never have to see or hear this motherfucker every hour of every day. When today comes, I am going to have the most epic hangover ever on the next day.

  13. resjudicata2 on

I guess once you kill over a hundred Iranian 7-14 year old children, war crimes are just part of the job.

  14. I guess war crimes are back on the menu. It’s funny how killing millions of people is acceptable to our president. I’m assuming because they are tan.

  15. If he does this, surrounding nations will have absolutely no guess about why Iran would attack their desalination plants. They should be more than casually irked to hear about this threat.

  16. momoenthusiastic on

Someone in the Congress should tell him that would be a war crime. Oh wait….

  17. FinishImmediate6684 on

That will help the Iranian people that Trump cares about so much. He’s doing this for you!

  18. bigwavedave000 on

If someone threatened to blow up the clean drinking water facilities in the United States what do you think would happen?

  19. Trump is *literally* a *terrorist* now, on top of already being a fraud, racist, rapist, insurrectionist, and fascist.

  20. pineappleoptics on

Remember one of the pretexts for entering this war was saving the Iranian people? Do we achieve this by destroying their drinking water?

  21. bacon-squared on

I believe that’s illegal. Off to The Hague with him, Hegseth, and everyone in the chain of command that supports and carries out that decision after this is all done.

  22. On Fox News someone asked if the Iranian people have water and President rapey responded that the reporter is as beautiful as she was the last time they met, when she was 11.

Not even joking. That actually happened.

  23. wabashcanonball on

I thought he said he was liberating the Iranian people. Seems like he might have been lying.

    Per the googler :

deliberately attacking desalination plants is considered a war crime under international humanitarian law. As objects indispensable to the survival of the civilian population, specifically regarding drinking water, their destruction is prohibited by Article 54 of the 1977 Additional Protocol I to the Geneva Conventions.

Legal Protections: Desalination plants are classified as “objects indispensable to the survival of the civilian population,” meaning they are protected from direct attacks, destruction, or disruption, even if they have some military function.
Significance of Water: In arid regions like the Persian Gulf, these plants are critical for providing drinking water to millions. Attacks on them can cause disproportionate civilian suffering, making them unlawful.
Legal Ramifications: Targeting such infrastructure can be prosecuted as a war crime, and such acts have historically led to severe international condemnation and liability for damages, such as in the 1991 Gulf War.

I love when our president admits he wants to commit war crimes.

  25. Liquid_Trimix on

That is most certainly 100% a war crime.

Its bad policy, bad strategy, bad diplomacy.

You confirm Starmer’s legal objection thesis.

You harm the people severely and hand the regime a theocratic win.

  26. I wonder if there’s a point where the military refuses his orders. A war crime that would cost millions of lives seems like it should qualify, but at this point I don’t know.

  27. Candid_Cat_5921 on

Iran can easily survive without desalination plants. They are used for only about 3% of their water needs.

Other gulf states are entirely dependent on desalination including Israel.

  28. I think he’s getting hurt feelings that his market manipulation Mondays aren’t hitting so hard anymore.

  29. Shockkdiamondss on

Dear Americans, could you please do something about your war criminal president?

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

  30. Iran attacked a desalination plant in Kuwait today and hit one in Bahrain back on March 8th.

This is just as much of a war crime if Israel or the USA hitting similar plants in Iran.

This is why starting wars without clear objectives or an understanding of potential consequences are a terrible fucking idea.

It’s almost like previous US administrations knew that attacking Iran could potentially unleash a clusterfuck that wasn’t worth the chance to take out a brutal repressive regime.

Because things can quickly spiral out of control and stopping the war becomes infinitely harder than starting it.

    It’s almost like geopolitics isn’t a video game or a reality show…

The world economy now hinges on the actions of a bunch of amateurish sycophants serving a narcissistic idiot and a regime of fundamentalist radicals who don’t flinch at killing tens of thousands of their own populace for protesting.

    Great, just fucking great.

  31. Spartansoldier-175 on

Casual War Crime talk. Good lord. I hate what people have done to my country.

  32. Didn’t he just say yesterday they had a 15 point peace plan?

Oh wait, it’s market manipulation Monday, nevermind.

  33. imonlysmarterthanyou on

Okay, Iran did a war crime. Feel better?
Is anyone surprised Iran committed a war crime? Not really?

Is everyone surprised that the US is telling everyone ahead of time they are going to commit a war crime? Yes. Yes they are.

You can’t prevent something that has already happened. You can report that the fact the President is threatening war crimes.

Keep in mind, much of this is for the population later. If he does it, there will be hell to pay. Every person involved will be held accountable. Pardons don’t do crap against international courts.

So, if it happens and many years from now you hear about US Service Members being court-martialed or other members of the administration being extradited to the hague you cannot be surprised.
