Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz addressed reports that the United States wishes to acquire a Patriot battery currently in service with the Polish Army. He stated that the government does not intend to relocate Polish military equipment.

Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz addressed the matter. “Our Patriot batteries and their armaments are used to protect Polish airspace and NATO’s eastern flank. Nothing is changing in this regard, and we have no plans to move them anywhere! Our allies are well aware of and understand how important our tasks are here. Poland’s security is an absolute priority,” he wrote on X.
Deputy Minister Cezary Tomczyk spoke in a similar vein. “Polish Patriots are staying in Poland. They have a mission here at home: to defend Poland and NATO’s eastern flank,” he wrote.
Zbigniew Bogucki, head of the President’s Office, was asked on Polsat News about discussions on this matter with the United States. “I would like to remind you that we are a very loyal ally of the United States, a country bordering NATO’s eastern flank and the EU’s eastern border. We are fulfilling our alliance obligations in this regard,” said Zbigniew Bogucki. “We face significant burdens, for instance regarding the rearmament of the Polish army and the situation on the border with Belarus. These are the challenges facing the Polish army. I think the Americans see just how immense Poland’s commitment is on NATO’s eastern flank.” I have no knowledge that this is directed at us; no such official information has been received so far,” he added.
In the middle of the month, Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced that Poland would not send troops to Iran because the conflict initiated by the U.S. and Israel does not directly concern Poland’s security.
The U.S. and Israel’s War with Iran
On February 28, the U.S. and Israel launched airstrikes against Iran, prompting Iran to launch retaliatory attacks against Israel, U.S. bases in the Middle East, and countries allied with Washington. As part of its retaliatory measures, Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz—a strategic maritime route through which, under normal conditions, approximately 20 percent of oil transported by sea and about 30 percent of LPG transported by the same route passes—to ships associated with the U.S., Israel, and their allies. The blockade of the Strait of Hormuz led to a sharp rise in oil prices.
Trump appealed to U.S. allies to send ships to the Middle East to help reopen the Strait. Most European countries, however, reacted skeptically. The lack of support from allies was met with an aggressive response from the U.S. president. “NATO countries have done absolutely nothing to help the crazy, now militarily decimated Iranian people,” he wrote. “The United States needs nothing from NATO, but ‘never forget’ this very important moment!” he declared.

Poland used to be the most pro-USA country in Europe only a few years ago. They did their best to hold fast to the transatlantic alliance even through Trump’s horseshit, but I guess there’s a limit to everything.
Wow. We are paying insane amount of money for military equipment. Our dept from 60% will be 100% in few years because of such spending. People can not afford going to hospitals, queues are even longer bc society decided to transfer this to military to protect from Russian Imperialism.

In before Trump/Vance/Rubio says Poland/EU/NATO are the worst allies ever, we should be paying tribute and thank the US for existing, US decides on everything bla bla bla.
These are needed in Europe, plain and simple.
The US has 15 Patriot *battalions*, each with four batteries, so 60 total. There’ve been reports they’re adding more. Poland has ordered six Patriot batteries and probably have received two.
It was likely less about the equipment (though the US asked for missiles) but more about involving Polish military personnel manning a Patriot battery in the US-Israeli war on Iran.
Just like with Poland acquiring both American and South Korean tanks, probably a sign it might not be a bad idea to diversify too with the Euro Patriot equivalent, the SAMP/T NG, which is a French-Italian product, not German, so it should be alright for the Poles.
If I may put my conspiracy hat on for a second:
Is a byproduct of the attack on Iran a way for trump to drain Europe of its resources so Ruzzia and him have an easier time when they inevitably attack us? With all the „you better help me!“ and „give me your weapons so you don’t run out of oil!“ talk?
And PiS traitors want to buy all our weapons from USA. So, not only are we paying for arms that only US has codes for. We are also required to give them up for free to help Americans fight Iran? Fuck right off.
Time to ramp un SAMP-T production for Europe and get NATO countries to realize that there are alternatives to Patriot Batteries (i.e. SAMP-T and anti-drone drones)
Which just shows an even more grave problem:
If Poland (or any other Patriot system user) were to use their systems, they wouldn’t be able to restock their missiles, since any production would go to American (and ME) stockpiles which are depleted.
Essentially, Poland and other users have bought a system which is a one shot deal, once you’re out of missiles, you won’t see any more for the next 5 years…
Buy European!
The difficulty of this situation for Poland is that if they ever have to use their Patriots in self defence and I think we can all agree that we hope that never happens- how reliable is the resupply of ammo from the US going to be. Across Europe this has to be factored into future defence procurement but also its incredibly short sighted for the US to behave like that as they are going to lose their best customers and there isn’t that many alternate markets with pockets deep enough to buy their kit.
Time for Europe to invest in its domestic production and compete with the US more in the global arms markets.

The Iranian strikes have depleted American patriot stockpiles by about 20%. They have plenty. It’s really hard to come up with any other reason than wanting to weaken Poland on behalf of Russia for a request like this.
This is why Europe must divert to European military production as much and as quickly as possible.
