Just as I believed in the liberation of Kosovo, I also believed that the Kosovo national team would one day be our pride.
Today, in the “Fehmi e Xhevë Lladrovci” Square, together with the citizens, we will follow the challenge that is historic for Kosovo football. The nation, today, is one, despite the flag that Kosovo footballers carry on their chests. We are together and no one will be able to separate us.
Although on the way to Bratislava I had doubts about our strength to face the Slovaks, when I thought about the match against Sweden and Slovenia, I was confident that our eagles would perform miracles.
That’s how it happened. Kosovo football has now become a well-known and recognized brand in the world. We regretfully accepted Albania’s defeat in Poland, but we strongly believe that we will make Albania proud with our game and victory.
Our footballers showed character, quality and moral strength, because twice they managed to turn a negative result in Slovakia into a victory. Such comebacks in football are not frequent, this does not go down well even for the biggest national teams in the world.
After the victory in Bratislava, all Albanians in the ethnic territories and diaspora tried to find a ticket to be present at the decisive qualifying game in Pristina against Turkey. The “Fadil Vokrri” stadium is too small to accommodate everyone interested in the match.
Therefore, I thought that as a solution to the lack of tickets, in our municipalities, in squares, in accordance with public safety norms, large LED screens should be installed, which will provide access for citizens, to be part of the shared atmosphere of victory.
More than ever, the National Stadium is missing, once again proving that resentment does not build a future. In football’s greatest achievement, we are missing the nest for our eagles.
With quality play we will be in the World Championship, because we deserve it. Kosovo’s footballers grew up with the state of Kosovo and we are proud of our eagles. Forward eagles, respect coach, technical staff, fans and football lovers. Today is our day, the day of victory!
