Heimir Hallgrimsson has made three changes to his Republic of Ireland side for tonight’s Aviva Stadium friendly against North Macedonia.

The Boys in Green manager had signalled that he would not make wholesale changes to the side which agonisingly lost on penalties to Czechia in their World Cup play-off semi-final in Prague last week.

Ryan Manning, whose foul for a penalty at the Fortuna Arena allowed the Czechs to halve the first-half deficit, is replaced in the XI by Liam Scales, who has returned from suspension.

Meanwhile, John Egan also comes into the back five in place of Jake O’Brien.

In midfield, Jason Knight replaces fellow midfielder Jack Taylor, who had already returned home after his wife had fallen ill.

Sammie Szmodics and Robbie Brady had already been ruled out through injury.
