I was reading this interesting article on Vísi. In it, the author examines how in Seltjarnarnes network seems to rule more than rules, or as he puts it: “one phone call away” culture, where access and influence depend on who you know. It’s also interesting that there doesn’t seem to be any resident democracy there, as he says in the article: “The building changed so gradually as the seasons went by. The building grew on the drawing board, while changes were made to the existing zoning to suit it, despite repeated and formal objections from residents.”

The Independence Party (and Progress, as a recent example from Hafnarfjörður shows) should not exercise authority. This kind of cronyism and nepotism always happens when these parties are in power throughout time and time again.
