America has many thousands of old M113s in storage. I know it’s hopelessly outdated as an IVF, but if you slap a Bushmaster auto cannon on it, couldn’t you field large numbers in a short time for drone defense?

Now that’s a more useful production rate than the hundred or so produced last year. That ought to be plenty for everybody’s needs, assuming orders keep production going at this sort of scale. Hopefully the AHEAD ammo production was scaled up proportionately.

In addition to these Europe also produces the Bofors 40mm gun with 3P anti drone ammo as seen on the Tridon Mk2; the Terrahawk Paladin which can mount anything from 20mm autocannons up to 35mm guns and a dazzling array of missiles and interceptor drones.

These ought to sell well compared to the US options which are produced at a artisanal scale with an extortionate price, especially as the US has just increased the demand while pissing it’s potential customers in the middle east off.

In all justice to Rheimetall, these are definitely the kind of kit you don’t want printed in someone’s kitchen

  4. This may be adequate for point defense, but you still have the problem of vast stretches of territory that an adversary can freely operate across to strike vulnerable but critical nodes.

I’m surprised we haven’t seen reusable unmanned interceptors become ubiquitous. Basically a mini-Spitfire that could out-perform a drone without as much concern for range and payload.

I think they should design that weapon turret being placed on the back of like a F-450 frame or comparable for rear guard defence.

It would allow you to pump out more and defend installations in the rear/civilian areas.

Make 400 of those a year on-top of the 400 of these and that’s reasonable.

Now the CEOs hate against cheap ukranian antidrone solutions made in the kitchen, make sense.
