Had to double check this wasn’t r/GoodNewsUK given positive stories don’t tend do well here.

A part which was interesting near the end

    >Over the first three months of 2026, spot wholesale base power prices in the UK have averaged around 89 euros per megawatt hour, according to LSEG.

    >That compares to an average of around 101 euros in Germany, 137 euros in Italy, and around 70 euros in France.

May explain why the “highest electricity prices” headline have died down.

  3. It would soften the blow even more if the king didn’t change the UK electric companies over a billion pounds each year to use his wind. That fee gets passed into the end consumer.

This is why Milliband should get a clap from all of us. Sensible, grown up strategy compared to the stupidity of other parties and their “start drilling” nonsense which would have done nothing to help

It has also softened some of the reform voices calling for more reliance on oil in the future, too. Win-win.

Oof, that’s bad timing. Wind has struggled to produce more than 5GW today and gas has been doing the heavy lifting. That just shows what an unstable system we’re building.

  7. It has softened NOTHING, fuel prices are going insane, that cost IS getting passed on, everything you buy is going up. There are haulage comapnies with rises from 50 to over 100k a WEEK in fuel (these are the people who move your food)
