Seems appropriate to leave once you have threatened to invade fellow members.

  2. afreshstart2015 on

Hopefully countries dont fall for this pedophiles blackmail

To quote what was said by others
    You start a fire
    You put it out

NATO is a defensive alliance and not for rogue members to start wars and drag others in

The Next US president is going to have fun on damage control after the next election

Surely the US military-industrial complex would be upset if they exited NATO?

  4. Frack do it and stop yacking about it. Right now not sure you wouldn`t side with damn Russia anyway.

Close all your damn bases, that goes with those the countries in the Alliance has outside Europe. Good luck projecting power when you have to carry everything on a boat with a fire in its toilets. Cause that`s were this is heading.

  5. Seems pretty clear to me Americans need to get rid of this unstable narcissistic criminal. He’s going to take the world down with him otherwise. This needs to stop. But don’t just end with stopping Trump, this goes way deeper. There is a deep rot at its core. Just look at others like Vance, Musk, Thiel, the Heritage Foundation, There has to be a serious revolution of somekind.

All signs are pretty clear that:

    A) Trump has a fragile ego and is mentally unstable.

    B) MAGA movement is actively trying to destroy the world order. Economically and politically.

    C) Who benefits? A couple of billionaires filling their pockets with pump & dump schemes and other types of fraud. On top of that other state entities benefit from it, such as Russia. Russia has been profiting of the backs of its citizens in the same way. Hoarding money for the happy few, amidst the post-Soviet Union chaos. Then there is Netanyahu who also has his own reasons for having an endless war.

It has all seriously gone to hell.

does that mean US will have to give more to use bases across europe?

Most deals through nato would be canceled. That means US would have make new bilateral deals with each nation in particular.

I guess he gonna hurt his own country because his ego was hurt?

It’s nice to see Trump is finding ways to make Putin’s wishes come true. Well, not wishes… Putin’s orders to Trump. Same difference.

  8. He’s been considering this for 10 years. It’s not new, it’s just new that he said it again.

  9. Great so lets get the timeline:

    Mad at NATO for Ukraine
Mad at NATO for not spending enough

    Threatens to abandon NATO

    Starts war with Iran
    Wins War (trademark)

Hasn’t won war so asks for help
Help is denied since we started it
Mad that others wont help him win the won war
Moves goal from regime change to open strait (which was open before we bombed them)

Says we will pull out even if the strait isn’t opened
Now threatens to pull out of NATO because of our own self-made war

It’s surrealistic to watch the US destroy itself because no one has the stones to remove the cause if its destruction.

I have some questions about Section 1250A of the 2024 National Defense Authorization Act.

Trump threatening to leave NATO is just a day ending in Y.

By now it feels different though, the anti-NATO rhetoric from the US administration is reaching a fever pitch. I am aware that the president does not have the authority to unilaterally withdraw from NATO, explicitly restricted by the provision mentioned above.

But as we say in my country: Paper is patient. By now, due to this administration’s disregard for law and order and its explicit and premeditated (Project 2024) undermining of the separation of powers in the USA, I have doubts that the provision mentioned above will actually do anything to stop Trump from doing what he threatens he will do.

So I need somebody who is more plugged into US politics and news to answer a few questions for me:

Reading about it it was unclear to me how Section 1250A of the 2024 National Defense Authorization Act actually enforces itself. It mentions “withholding funds for a withdrawal” but I don’t see how that would prevent anything. How does Section 1250A actually enforce itself?

If the president decided to withdraw from NATO without congressional approval, what would congress be able to do about it and would it take those steps if they exist?

If the supreme court got involved and tried to block a withdrawal from NATO, how would such a verdict be enforced? (Especially in the context of the supreme court decision Trump v United States giving the president the ability to act with complete impunity.)

I apologise for my typos, I’m typing this on a touch screen and I am using a simplified keyboard because they put AI in everything now.

Greetings from a country that is supposedly an ally of the United States.

How convenient for putin. trump makes up an absolutely nonsense, BS excuse to try to get the US out of NATO. Exactly what putin wants. Sickening.

    >The U.S. president, a long-time critic of the alliance, went on to call NATO a “paper tiger” and said Russian President Vladimir Putin shares that opinion.

trump is openly declaring that he and putin share the same opinion. He’s not even trying to hide the fact that he’s working with putin.

  13. Well, he was acting adversarial long ago. Countries have been moving away from the USA ever since they started threatening Canada and Greenland.

Btw, Denmark actually sent soldiers to Greenland to mine airstrips there to defend themselves from a possible American invasion.

Why your supposed ‘allies’ are training to fight you off, they’re not going to lose too much sleep with you leaving the club.

  14. Brief-Weekend7630 on

I feel like this has been his agenda all along. That’s why the irrational threats towards taking Canada and Greenland, pointless war with Iran to have reason to distance themselves from NATO and draw closer with Russia.

Once he gets out of NATO and significantly weaken it, Russia will go for Baltic States and he will go for Greenland or Canada and whatever else this sick twisted fuck has on his mind.

I hope I’m wrong, but it doesn’t look good at all. He already made his “Board of Peace” with similar minded nations which he will rename “Board of War” like he did with Ministry of Defense and proclaim that it’s time to take what Murica rightfully should own.

He wants to attack Greenland and Canada. This way he can.

Canadians know that this is his long game. We are preparing as much as we can.

  16. It’s a shame that Republicans are simping for this clown. Everything this clown does is anti-American values and downright illegal. His strategy is “do whatever I want because it’ll be too late to stop me when the courts say no”

And, hey folks, Apple, Google, Microsoft, and NVIDIA “donated” towards that ballroom construction that everybody knew wasn’t legal to begin with

  17. DistanceToEmpty on

Is the US prepared to lose bases like RAF Lakenheath, Ramstein, Aviano, Incirlik, Pituffik and Diageo Garcia? Can the US build aircraft carriers and logistics ships fast enough to fill that gap in force projection capability?

Is the US prepared to have a huge radar gap over the Arctic from the Yukon, east to Russia?

Why would NATO countries keep playing ball with the US if the US is no longer in NATO?

IMHO, take Hungary with you. Free up NATO to assist Ukraine more.

  18. The next US President is going to have their hands full rebuilding foreign relations.

  19. FujiKitakyusho on

…because wirhdrawing from a defensive alliance right at peak “every other country on Earth hates you” is a power move.

    Or something.

As an American, I should say I’m shocked and appalled at this, but……..unfortunately I’m not. The man wants it to go his way and is not happy when it doesn’t. He doesn’t understand the meaning of no, and likes to surround himself with both yes men and powerful people, which includes, unfortunately, strongmen who rule countries with an iron fist.

  21. Good, a defensive pact should not contain a member who actively threatens its other members with military force and annexation. We’ll welcome the US back after it de-Nazifies and proves that it’s not going to invade the world in a tantrum of 21st century Manifest Destiny
