Hey guys πŸ‘‹

I’m from the Czech Republic and I’m used to using Mapy.czwhich is really good for things like hiking, detailed maps, offline use, and planning routes.

I’m going to Poland and was wondering β€” is there any Polish equivalent or something similar that people actually use? Ideally something good for:

  • hiking / outdoor stuff
  • detailed maps (like trails, terrain, etc.)
  • offline maps would be a big plus

Or do people in Poland just stick with Google Maps / other apps?

Thanks a lot πŸ™

  1. I think mapy.cz is a world-wide standard now, or should be. In Poland it works great. We have our own app – mapa-turystyczna.pl, but I haven’t used it for a while, so I don’t know if it is any good.

  2. mapa-turystyczna.pl is probably the best for trails,
sharpmap.com is becoming more popular when it comes to detailed terrain maps

  3. I can highly recommend OsmAnd. it’s the most all-round and complete map app available, but for regular use just go with mapy.cz πŸ™‚

  4. Nothing Poland specific, but there are really good generic options.

Comaps is great. Smooth, simple, full downloads for offline use. Works well forΒ  AR navigation as well.

And honestly Osmand is The Goat of map apps. If you don’t mind the complexity, Osmand has EVERYTHING. It’s ridiculous how packed that program is.

Use f-droid to get both with full features for free, as those apps are fully open.

In general data sources are of course the same, Open street map, which is really good.

On mapy.cz (mapy.com) you have information about temporarily closed tracks (due to the winter conditions), and as I know, none of other app can deliver that

Mapy stopped being just local CZ thing long ago, it covers now just as good pretty much entire europe.

I was using both mapy.cz and mapa-turystyczna, both are great, mapa-turystyczna has a better planner in my opinion, however in mapy.cz you can have one country offline in the free version which is way more important in the wilderness.

  8. Honestly, a lot of people in Poland just use [Mapy.cz](http://Mapy.cz) too πŸ˜„ – it works really well here.

    Other than that:

    * Google Maps – fine for cities, not great for hiking
    * Komoot – good for hiking/biking routes
    * AllTrails – also popular, but a bit limited unless you pay

But yeah, if you already use [Mapy.cz](http://Mapy.cz), just stick with it – it’s probably the best option anyway.
