  1. usually we equate fundraising success with election odds.

so with that in mind… not a good look for the Dems

edit the partisan responses & downvotes are also not a great look, I’m not even from your country lol.

  2. Why don’t the top 10 donors line up with the top by party? E.g. Andreesen and Horowitz donated 25M+ each but don’t show up by party. Uhlein donated 23.9M in total but more than that to republicans

Also would be interesting to see total donations by party and by geography

  3. To whom did Marc donate? I cannot find him either Demo or Rep spenders. Are there other alternatives?

Republicans can spend what they want, they have a deep hole to climb out of with this Iran war. These gas prices are about to start hurting wallets badly, and people vote with their wallets.

This is so insane, here in Québec political donations are capped at $200 CAD per person, per party, and we have a bit of a reputation for our politicians being corrupt.  This is corruption on an absolutely stupefying scale.

This is not beautiful. Don’t use the same color to mean different things, there’s plenty of other colors you can make “Tech” besides blue. And don’t use different scales for the democrat and republican donor graphs.

To be honest, I’d rather just have a graph with the top 10-20 donors labeled by who they donated to graph rather than these 3, as that would make it way easier to visually compare. I’d also prefer company names to industry labels, as people probably know what industry major companies are in, but they are less likely to know who owns what company.

  7. This + the Primary system + the Electoral College + FPTP voting

All the ingredients for a carrot cake

Greg Brockman is president of OpenAI (ChatGPT). Anna is his wife. So these two have given ~$50m combined so far.

In case you’re wondering, Sam Altman is CEO.

  9. Is this still BEAUTIFUL day at or just interesting data? I am cool with either, just curious.

This is rubbish, it doesn’t show how much the dems and GOP received in scale.

  11. How long has it been like this with the republicans having this much more money?

  12. Need a different color for tech

Need proper scaling or labeled axis on the party-specific donors

Would be beneficial to indicate PACs/groups vs individuals

  13. Things are not going to get better if more money keeps flowing into politics like this.

Musk fucking knows he’s going to jail if the Dems comeback in full force. He even said it during the elections. Motherfucker deserves to be buried somewhere in africa

  15. Why is Richard Uihlein not listed on the top 10 donors? Based on the top Dem/Rep donors lists he should be #2 overall.

Greg & Anna Brockman ($12.5M each): Greg Brockman is the co-founder of OpenAI. He and his wife, Anna, have shifted significant funds toward groups like Leading the Future and MAGA Inc., focusing on policies that favor American AI dominance.

    Fuck Open AI.

  17. So the top Democrat donors would be ninth on the Republican list.

    And the top 10s are $190m v $40m. I mean that’s a massive difference.

  18. So the lowest Republican donor is higher than the highest Democrat donor. Seems fair.

  19. Do Americans realise how batshit insane its political donation and lobbying system is?

  20. This is a bad display of data. You should feel ashamed for thinking it’s beautiful.

Every one of these guys’ wiki pic looks like they want to fuck someone that isn’t of age, or didn’t, or isn’t able to, give consent.
