“We are discussing with the United States to start a dialogue to strengthen our cooperation on digital technologies and markets,” European Commission spokesman Thomas Regnier said on Wednesday to the German newspaper Handelsblattaccording to which the US government would participate in a joint group to discuss EU technology regulations.
A Commission spokesperson reiterated this position on Wednesday, confirming, however, that discussions are underway with the United States to start a “dialogue aimed at strengthening cooperation on digital technologies and markets”.
“This will allow us to clarify any misunderstandings and promote cooperation to address global challenges together,” the spokesperson added.
The Commission’s statements follow an article published on Wednesday by the German newspaper Handelsblatt, according to which the Commission and the US administration would have established a joint body that would be responsible for enforcing EU technology and competition rules against American companies.
Instead, the United States would offer a reduction in tariffs on European machinery, special vehicles, and steel and aluminum productsas reported by Handelsblatt.
The criticisms:
The slowness with which the Commission applies the EU digital regulatory framework has sparked reaction from European leaders, including the French President Emmanuel Macronwhich called for speeding up enforcement of the rules on big tech companies.
“The European Commission must immediately clarify whether this will actually happen. If confirmed, it would be a real capitulation to the Trump administration’s coercive tactics,” he said the Green MEP Sergey Lagodinsky in a conversation with POLITICOcalling for the suspension of EU-US trade negotiations and the activation of the bloc’s anti-coercion tool.
Others have warned that i talks could weaken the implementation of key legislationdesigned to limit the power of big tech companies.
MPs in Berlin also expressed alarm. Hansjörg Durz, chairman of the German parliamentary committee for digital affairs, warned that any compromise would be “highly problematic” and would risk undermining confidence in the EU’s enforcement of the rules. There Green MP Rebecca Lenhard added that the digital norms of the block “they must not become a bargaining chip” in a tariff dispute with Washington.

Tradotto vuol dire che non sarebbe più l’UE a stabilire sanzioni e limiti alle aziende tech uessei ma ci sarebbe questo fantomatico organismo congiunto che collabora per stabilire queste norme e sanzioni. Praticamente l’incubo di noyb/schrems.
…quando la tua arma negoziale è un potente “vuoto”, devi scendere a compromessi. Le aziende Europee indispensabili agli americani si contano sulle dita di una mano, al contrario servirebbe un mutante con migliaia di mani, insomma: non ci sono molti negoziati.
E non mi si venga a dire che “voglio proprio vedere se Microsoft, google, Amazon , Broadcom, Apple, Nvidia ecc.. non vendessero più in Europa”, si il loro fatturato cala, ma il nostro mondo europeo torna all’età della pietra (cit), chi ci rimette di più non sono certo gli americani, ma gli europei che si vedono bloccata la vita, dai miliardi di pagamenti quotidiani, a tutte le amministrazioni pubbliche, infrastrutture, ecc.. sarebbe come nella serie zero day per l’Europa.
Se non inizi mai a costruire alternative, sarai sempre sotto ricatto. È lo stesso che sta succedendo per la difesa, quando a giorni alterni sentiamo il pagliaccio arancione minacciare di uscire dalla NATO. Forse non possiamo staccare la spina da un giorno all’altro (salvo che la spina possono sempre staccarla loro, di là dall’Atlantico), ma mettersi a 90 e lasciare tutto com’è dai, anche no. Serve darsi una mossa e prendere provvedimenti, un po’ alla volta, iniziare dalle priorità, e costruire man mano alternative UE.
Mi viene un ictus ogni volta che in un articolo leggo “tariffe” anziché “dazi”.

Se spiegano bene quali comportamenti adottare per non venire sanzionati ben venga. Per tutto il resto strenua opposizione.
Siamo veramente un continente zerbino cazzo, è incredibile la sudditanza a questa testa di cazzo che per inseguire le follie di un’altra testa di cazzo sta danneggiando l’economia di mezzo mondo.
Spero vivamente si annientino tutti e tre a vicenda così ci leviamo questi inutili fardelli dai coglioni.
