The Children’s Zoo at Zagreb Zoo has been particularly lively in recent days thanks to an adorable new arrival.
A playful lamb named Točkica was born in mid-March and has quickly become the centre of attention as she energetically runs and jumps around her enclosure.
The young lamb is easily recognisable by her black coat and distinctive white tuft on the top of her head. Zoo keepers soon determined that the newborn was female and suggested the fitting name Točkica.
At first glance, Točkica might have thought the world was only black and white. Her mother Tami, a nine-year-old black dwarf sheep, contrasts sharply with her father Janko, a white dwarf ram.
But as soon as she stepped outside, the young lamb began discovering just how colourful and exciting her surroundings can be.
“Točkica is very playful. She bravely explores her environment and is curious even when it comes to food,” said Ivan Šarić, a keeper at the zoo.

“Although she is still feeding on her mother’s milk, she has already started trying elm branches that are served to the dwarf goats and sheep in the Children’s Zoo. After all the action, she most enjoys resting close to her mum and dad.”
Tami arrived in Zagreb from the zoo in Ljubljana, while Janko, aged three and a half, came from the Kovačević family farm in Čemernica.

Visitors hoping to catch a glimpse of the energetic young lamb can do so daily at the Zagreb Zoo, which is open from 9:00 to 19:00, including on Easter Sunday and Easter Monday. Entry is possible until 18:00, when the ticket offices close.
