EU Industrial Output Falls in January 2026: Eurostat Reports 1.6% Monthly Drop - News and Statistics

New data from Eurostat indicates a contraction in industrial activity across the European Union. The statistical office reported that total industrial production, excluding construction, fell in the most recent monthly period.

The seasonally adjusted index for the EU27 reached 98.8 points for the first month of the year, using 2021 as a base year of 100. This figure represents a month-over-month decrease of 1.6 percent when adjusted for seasonal variations. Compared to the same month one year prior, production was down by 0.6 percent on a calendar-adjusted basis.

The dataset, which covers manufacturing, mining, and utilities output, was updated recently.
