Who is not in the topic: the film is based on the story of the same name by Vas. Bullish. This poet and writer wrote a very direct, brutal, undisguised truth about that war. And in the film, this and that slips through, although not so much. But this is already a very old film (1965), and in those years there were still more or less true tapes.
I actually had the idea to finally watch it "Go and see"but… the wiki mentioned him, and… I couldn’t get over it. This film is also not playful, but very philosophical, makes you think a lot, try yourself in one or another situation… And it is mostly Belarusian…
