MILLBROOK, Ala. (WSFA) – Kathy Knight is celebrating 30 years in the classroom at Coosada Elementary School. For the last two years, she has served as the technology coordinator and kindergarten interventionist.

Knight spent 26 years as a 2nd grade teacher at the school before making the transition to focus on technology. Her very first job was in Georgia.

“Inventory on all the technology devices in the classroom, as well as our Chromebooks. And then, I also work on our website. I may have parents call me and ask me questions about ParentSquare, and just different things like that,” Knight said.

Knight also teaches students coding through Code.org, a state standard requirement.

“Coding, that’s a very big thing. We use Code.org, it’s a state standard that we have to do and the kids enjoy doing it,” she said.

Knight, who grew up in Florida and moved to Alabama to start a family, says she has no plans to retire soon.

“You know I can retire at any time at this point, but I don’t see that in my future for a long time now,” she said.
