Passengers travelling on the weekend beginning Friday, April 10th, may face disruption with strikes hitting air and rail transport on consecutive days.
Strikes continue in Italy this April and the latest round of industrial action hitting the transport industry comes just as many people return from their Easter breaks.
Here’s what we know so far about the transport strikes planned for the end of this week.
Friday, April 10th — Air transport strike
An air traffic control strike is confirmed in Italy for Friday, with unions calling a four-hour nationwide walkout from 1pm to 5pm.
Delays or cancellations are possible at airports across Italy, with Rome Fiumicino, Milan Malpensa and Naples Capodichino among those affected.

The strike falls between Italy’s two protected windows, during which flights must operate regardless of industrial action: 7am–10am and 6pm–9pm. Flights during the 1pm–5pm window are not guaranteed.
Italy’s civil aviation authority Enac usually publishes a list of guaranteed flights ahead of strikes. Check your airline’s app or website for the latest on your flight before leaving for the airport.
Saturday, April 11th — Rail strike
A 24-hour national strike by RFI maintenance and infrastructure staff could cause disruption to regional, intercity and high-speed train services across Italy on Saturday.
Check your operator’s website (Find Trenitalia or Italo here) for updates on your service before you travel.
What to do if your flight is affected
If you’re flying to, from or within the EU, you have the right to either a refund or rebooking, and the airline must always offer you the choice.
