The Baltimore Orioles added bullpen depth on Tuesday by acquiring left-hander Nick Raquet from the St. Louis Cardinals in exchange for infielder/outfielder Brayden Smith. According to the Orioles X account, Raquet has not yet reported to the team; Raquet was designated for assignment by the Cardinals on Sunday.
On Monday, the Orioles placed left-hander Dietrich Enns on the 15-day injured list with a left foot infection and called up right-hander Brandon Young to start Monday against the Chicago White Sox. The Orioles won the game 2-1 and received a solid pitching performance from Young, who struck out two and walked two through five innings.

Smith is a 22-year-old from Las Vegas, Nevada, and was drafted in the 13th round of the 2025 MLB Draft by the Orioles out of Oklahoma State University. Smith played in 16 games for the Orioles Single-A affiliate (one game at High-A), the Delmarva Shorebirds, and batted .200 with a home run, nine RBI, and 12 walks (18 strikeouts).
Nick Raquet should provide the Baltimore Orioles with valuable depth until Dietrich Enns returns

Raquet, 30, has appeared in only two games in the big leagues — Raquet didn’t allow any runs, while striking out and walking a batter in two innings this season — and has spent six seasons in the minor leagues. In 137 games (67 starts), Raquet has a 36-33 record with a 3.69 ERA and has eight saves and 374 strikeouts in 446.0 innings.

The Orioles needed to add another arm to the roster, with Enns’ estimated return to be determined. Young is also unavailable for Tuesday’s game after starting on Monday.
