Cairo, Egypt – The Arab Republic of Egypt strongly condemned the Israeli airstrikes that targeted wide areas in the Lebanese Republic. These airstrikes resulted in the death and injury of hundreds of civilians. Cairo considered this aggression a flagrant violation of international laws and norms, as well as Lebanese sovereignty.

A blatant violation of international law

The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that the Israeli attacks systematically targeted vital civilian facilities and infrastructure. This constitutes an infringement upon the unity and territorial integrity of Lebanon and a violation of international humanitarian law. The Ministry noted that these attacks come just one day after the announcement of a ceasefire between the United States and Iran. This represents an Israeli attempt to obstruct efforts to de-escalate tensions and promote diplomatic dialogue in the region.

Call for international intervention

Egypt stated that it calls upon all relevant regional and international actors to intervene immediately to halt the Israeli escalation. It also stressed the need to prevent the situation from spiraling into further violence and chaos, and emphasized the importance of protecting civilians and preserving regional security and stability.

Egypt’s support and solidarity with Lebanon

Egypt reiterated its unwavering support for Lebanon, stressing the need to respect its sovereignty and territorial integrity, and rejecting any attempts to destabilize its security or undermine its national institutions. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also noted that the Egyptian Embassy in Beirut is in constant contact with the Egyptian community to provide necessary support. It confirmed that the community’s situation is stable and that no injuries have been reported among its members so far.
