I do treat basically anyone and anything as regarded these days just to not be disappointed. I understand eating on the train, no problem with that.
But do people leave this mess at home, too?

Unless you witnessed someone dropping it on the floor, maybe be a bit more charitable.
It could have fallen from their pocket or bag. A cleaner emptying the bins may have dropped it and not noticed while working quickly. The train may have braked suddenly, spraying eggshell everywhere shortly before their stop.
You know you are in a good place when people complain about these things.

With 25 years of perspective living here, I can clearly see the decline. The behavior of some commuters is becoming increasingly erratic. Sad indeed.
