Belgium’s forgotten war? Korea conflict turns 70 (article is 4 years old already). I was looking up some of Belgium’s war history and was surprised to read about Belgium’s heroic achievements during the Korean War. If you’re interested, give it a read. Belgian Volunteer Corps for Korea – Wikipedia

There were some good documentaries on Dutch language TV broadcast in recent years which featured interviews with some veterans, I regret to think there may not be many around any more. I used to live near the large and impressive monument near Montgomery in Brussels, but I hardly ever remember seeing flowers laid there or any other such fanfare
You can also find a list of the casualties at the War Memorial in Seoul:

Grandpa joined the volunteer corps when he was 18 and fought there. Always a joy to see people remembering.
The last real wars we fought in were the Syrian Civil War (from 2013 to 2021) — in which we carried out more than 300 airstrikes and the war in Afghanistan (from 2015 to 2021) operation Resolute Support Mission.
I grew up with my grandparents. My grandma used to work a desk job for the army in the late fifties, in a building across the Boerentoren in Antwerp. She always told me stories about how the guys working there were all freakshows created by Korea. Some had a missing arm or leg, others what I would assume were forms of PTSD. Most were drinkers too from what I hear of her stories. Most had good humor though from what she tells, only a few grumps
