I used to work at Moonee Valley Racing Club. There were heaps of foxes there. It really sucked when they ate the ducks.

    They’ve got some nerve.

I swear foxes are trying to get themselves domesticated. They’ve seen dogs and cats live the sweet life.

  3. There is foxes living throughout Melbourne. In all suburbs. They are just very good at hiding.

  4. The carcasses ie seen in Darebin and Banyule have been as big as some dogs. Crazy how brazen they become during the heat season. Watched them just stroll through Fairfield front yards last year. Chandler hwy was a burial site last weekend.

A few years ago I was near RMH at night and a fox casually trotted across Wreckyn Street.
    They seem to be everywhere.

Lots of them around the beach here in Elwood, saw one walking up the footpath one night. Something’s gotta keep the mice down

  7. Decent sized fox. Seen a couple. Reckon there’s a family of them in Brimbank park keeping the rabbit numbers down

  8. They visit our house and backyard int he Rosanna / Macleod area a few times a week. We have them on the security cameras casually strolling in and out have a sneaky look around

It’s just a fox. I have one here that goes for a walk with us at 5am every morning, follows my dog around. They are all over the place, we get them heaps here in Port Melbourne cause they come on the boats from Tasmania

Is that a baby fox, or is that what a normal sized one looks like. I thought foxes were the same size as a dog..

That’s one damn friendly fox. The ones I come across instantly disappear the moment they notice me.

My girlfriend and I came across a Corella stuck in a barbed wire fence. I couldn’t get it free because it got itself stuck in pretty good. Called a rescue to come help, its volunteer so had to wait about an hour. I went back to check if it was ok and it was still alive and stuck.
Volunteer called to come meet them. I got there first and a fox climbed up the chain link fence and chewed its head off to get it free. So yeah.. fuck foxes.

  14. In the 1990s I used to see them at night on the grounds of the University of Melbourne.

Apparently there are Victorian government estimates of 16 foxes per square kilometre in Melbourne. It more than rural areas, because the available food sources are so good

  16. I’m in Reservoir, and even though I haven’t seen one for myself around here, a friend of the family has… in my backyard of all places. He was here one day and went out into the backyard, and there was this big red fox out there… it got spooked pretty quick and jumped the fence. I’m just up the road from Merri Creek as well, which is probably not a coincidence.

  17. It looks like it wants to play.

Disclaimer: I know nothing about foxes. It could also be doing the “I want to eat the flesh off you bones” dance and I’d be none the wiser.

  18. I saw one at the Yarra Bend driving range last week. That was a bad choice by the fox

I saw one run across the road at that giant roundabout in North Melbourne by the hospitals years ago. That was a crack fox

Looks like she really wanted something from your backyard. Do you have chooks?

Best one I’ve seen in the city was when I was driving down Chapel St SY heading into Prahran at midnight was seeing a fox casually crossing the road.

We used to have one that would come past our front door at 3am every morning.
Be careful I do know some people who have had their small dog or cat eaten/attacked by a fox
