Wouldn’t be surprised if they ordered those ships to go through just to be able to claim that ships are going through.

Nobody should care until full tankers(U.S.) go through and insurance companies agree to cover them. Until then, it’s all for show and the straight is still closed.

Apparently, the Iranians notified the US that they will take action unless the ship reverses course.

    > A U.S. Navy destroyer headed towards the Strait of Hormuz was issued an imminent threat by Iran on Saturday amid the fragile two-week ceasefire tentatively agreed to between Washington and Tehran, the Hindustan Times reported.
    >
    > “Any US military vessel crossing the Hormuz Strait will be attacked within 30 minutes,” reads a warning directed at the U.S. Navy destroyer, according to the Hindustan Times and other foreign media outlets.
    >
    > Axios reporter Barak Ravid claimed on Saturday that U.S. warships had “crossed” the Strait of Hormuz earlier that morning without issue, citing an unnamed “senior U.S. official,” the “first time U.S. warships have crossed the Strait of Hormuz since the war began.” Later, Ravid claimed – again, citing an unnamed senior U.S. official – that the United States had “not received any threat from Iran to attack the ships.” (via RawStory)

The Hindustan Times then reported that the US ship had reversed course.

    >US military ship turns back from Hormuz route after Iran’s 30-min warning

(I don’t know if these are credible reports or not, I’m not familiar with the veracity of the Hindustan Times)

The US sails the Strait and then back out without coming under attack. That was the entire mission.

Iran is unable to attack it because 1. attacking a vessel transiting an internationally used waterway in the middle of peace talks is bad 2. actually sinking a US vessel would actually ensure Trump commits to destroying Irans energy and transportation infrastructure.

Trump is saying this and Axios is quoting unnamed personnel.

First and foremost, Trump is a liar. No one should believe anything he says unless it’s independently confirmed by a reputable source, which Axios is not.

Also, if Iran lets american ships through, aren’t they worried that they are carrying ground troops? I just don’t see it happening with no pushback from Iran.

  5. That’s what you can’t keep good generals. You have to have someone in leadership who doesn’t care about losing millions and killing thousands.

They’re trying to gaslight shippers to send their ships through the strait. If enough ships hit enough mines, the problem will solve itself. It’s basically the ruzzian meat wave attack strategy with oil and gas shipping.

  7. If Iran is defeated, twice now I think, why does the US need approval from Iran to pass through.

  8. If they were going into the gulf that’s really fucking stupid since once in the gulf manuevers are very restricted and if things heat up again they can’t get out without being a sitting duck. It must have been an order from Trump or Hegseth. I doubt a Navy captain would do that unless under duress

If it’s a ship leaving the gulf I’m surpised and relieved it remained unscathed over the past month

He had wanted NATO ships to do this first, before the “cease fire”, and called them cowards for not getting on board.

  10. So all that about ‘military securing the strait and escorting tankers’ talk from Trump was made up, huh? Weird he would lie about that.

  11. Total fake.

It’s the internet era and you can track the ships.

USS Michael Murphy (DDG-112) tried to cross and then made a u-turn after iran warning

There’s reports that IRGC reported the situation to the delegation in Islamabad and they will fire 30 minutes later if the ship don’t stop.

You can see his moves on trakers and it stopped.

  12. This is clearly not a US Destroyer in the picture. I thought it is a korvette but couldnt find one that looks like that. can anybody identify the vessle in the picture?

  13. This is diplomatic rage bait. If Iran hits the ship, US will flip out and go all in the war- hoping the US citizens get behind him and claim NATO has a responsibility now. If Iran is smart they will let them pass as many times as they want.

A war ship does nothing. Oil ships still have to pay the toll or get fired upon. Literally a game of chicken that nobody will win.

  14. So this whole situation is just going to fizzle out and he gets to claim victory over something he caused, killed people, CHILDREN, caused billions in damage and gas isn’t going to be under 3 dollars for the foreseeable future. Awesome… watch his poll number go up again. This country is a joke.

  15. Isn’t the Persian Gulf a dead end? Why would you transit into the gulf, with a possibility of being trapped?!?

The fact the Hindustan Times articles keep getting allowed to be posted here and upvoted should say a lot about the state of misinformation re this war.
