  1. I dunno, would it be too much to ask for Micro~~soft~~slop to *not* release things that break your computer?

Is there ANY Microslop update in the last months that hasn’t broken something critical??

  3. I know it’s never been flawless, but I really miss the days when a Windows update fucking things up was the much less likely option, not the expectation.

I must be a complete outlier. I’ve been on Windows 10, then 11 on this notebook for 6+ years now, I practically religiously update the system as soon/much as possible (public release though, not Insider Channel), and I’ve never really had an issue with Windows, outside of like an update failing twice or so in five years. What am I doing wrong?

  5. My computer shut down around March (no idea what update). After the update it refused my pin. I had gotten lazy on backups and noting PW changes. It was a brutal week. You forget how much you need to access your computer.

  6. I’m glad my PC is not candidate for W11. Forced me to switch to Linux and I’m happily posting from Fedora 43. I still have gaming to test in Fedora but everything else… I don’t even miss it.

My printer works fine, my bluetooth headset works fine. My 1440p 144hz monitor looks good with my 1070TI.

There was an issue during installation (had to switch to basic graphics installation then install the nvidia drivers) but no issues so far during this last month.

  7. # Microslop is officially turning 2026 into “Year of the Linux Desktop”.

    😀

I swear every time I update I wait like 10 minutes after reboot just to see what broke this time

  9. Staying on Windows 10 for as long as I can reasonably do so.

I’ve moved everything but gaming over to my new MacBook Air. Might have to just move over to Linux for gaming. Compatibility is just getting better. I can play multiplayer games on my PS5 if needed.

  10. These guys made me troubleshoot my PC for hours. Verifying power supplies, gpus and RAM and all it ended up being is their shifty updates…

Enshitification. There was a time that MS updates hooked things up sometimes. Very rarely they had a bad update – which is why we always stayed N-1 for non-critical/security patches.

Now I can’t stand them and wish I could just move to Linux.

  12. Remind me why it was so critical that everyone update to windows 11 when they can’t release a single update that doesn’t break your computer?

    Sooooo… Asking for a friend.

Is there good support for a pen input + notetaking app with Linux?

My Lenovo yoga is getting more and more unusable as a notetaking machine and unstable with each update!

At this point I’m just never going to boot into my ms partition anymore and stay on Linux.

They don’t even test their code anymore. Some random intern just plugs some crap into Copilot and then they push it straight to production without a second thought.

  16. Is this the work of the “so good that can’t be released” Claude Mythos? Every big company is using it now.

  17. In one sense I’m happy I stayed on Windows 10, by choice. However I swearrrrrrrr they did an end of life patch in October or so that slowed it down.

An then people still thinks they are better of with proprietary software than open source. Amazing!

Since everyone just reads the title these days:

    >”A good thing is that consumer systems are not affected by this as Microsoft explains: “This issue affects Windows Autopatch–managed commercial devices that meet all the following conditions:

    >The organization manages the device with Windows Autopatch.
Hotpatch is enabled to apply security updates.
Monthly security updates are installed without restarting the device.”

    Your gaming PC is fine.

This is especially fun at my job at a 911 Center that all of our computers runs on Windows 11 now even our phone system. Our computers just randomly crashing or shutting down programs we use or crashing completely

Can’t shut down OR reset? Do we at least get a “it’s now safe to fucking unplug your PC” screen like it’s 1985 or have we regressed to lows never before seen in the history of personal computing?

  22. Why anyone is still on 11 baffles me. I went back to 10 long before any of this went down, and started daily driving CachyOS alongside it last year, rarely touching 10 at all, and taking advantage of those extended security updates a lot of people seem to ignore. It has been much smoother sailing for me

Maybe when they said “Windows 10 is the last version of windows” they meant the last decent version of Windows and end of the windows era.

Daily reminder that Linux is a good, mature, stable, performant, and user-friendly OS

  25. Not updating or moving to win11 has been straight up the safest option to do for a while.

And the Linux worm is slowly digging its way deeper into my brain.

  26. I mean this with every fiber of my being: fuck microsoft. They are a shitty, garbage pushing ai slop factory that needs to go bankrupt.

Switch to linux or even apple. Windows keeps getting worse and shows no signs of stopping.
