Give an update if you get blown up for being late, if you’re heading into work.

  2. Just in case anyone’s wondering, Northgate isn’t much better. Consider getting an uber from the station.

  3. Boss_unicycle-560 on

Train announcements now telling people to go to Northgate because of queues at Geebung

  4. Holy heck, I must’ve just missed it! Went through at around 6,40 and we shuffled straight
on to the waiting busses. They must only have 1
set of busses they need to wait to return

  5. Ah,QLD Rail, “hmm, there’s a massive global fuel crisis, let’s just shut down a bunch of rail lines. I’m sure that won’t cause any problems what so ever.”

Someone at QR needs to be taken aside and be given some remedial education on maintenance rescheduling.

  6. GoMilesGo2020 on

I’ll drive to city on Wednesday and WFH for the rest. Screw this. QR should pay for all parking in the city imo.

Don’t bother riding a bike to work at 10kms either…

Save gas but let’s make all gas saving transport terrible.

    Geniuses in charge.

  8. Efficient_Chair1600 on

So other states are doing free public transport and QLD can’t even come to a deal for their own workers

  9. throwaway_sparky on

I’m shocked I tell you, shocked! A government that supports fracking and dependency of fossil fuels makes it harder to use their cheap public transport.

Crissafullofit what is it, incompetence or systematic barriers?

Agenda 20/30 humans are the carbon they want to reduce thanks to the covidiot jabs

Whilst this is really shit for the people it is impacting, it’s a true representation of the benefits of rail in the public transport mix – the number of people you can move it once, and taking the equivalent number of vehicles off the road!

This lineup looks like a great excuse to take the day off – you’ve earned it.

Holy crap so glad I’m retired and can go anytime of the day. (Or stay at home)

  13. Lol I’m going to Northgate – also so surprising given that there was hardly anyone parked at Petrie where I caught the train from

Edit – Northgate seems worse 😕

More pictures of Geebung please! As a child I used to take the steam train from Geebung to Virginia. Left QLD in 1968. Hope things get sorted out quickly. 🙏

And the alternative living in the city means tolerating nails scraping on glass at 2am when the bin truck collects beer bottle, and not falling back asleep I still 6am

  16. It’s bad enough that the network can’t be maintained without closures during peak times, but how can they bungle the communication so badly? Or did these travellers miss communications that were available?

  17. So I have to ask why wasn’t the NEW AND IMPROVED extra trackwork communicated at all?

No doubt there’s a number of people like myself who read all the notices that it was scheduled to finish on Saturday and made their way down for work

  18. Long line but from where I queued it took roughly 10mins to get on the bus. 3 buses would show up every 10 mins or so.

  19. Love the advice is to take public transport and this is what happens. Can we advise the pollies to hang themselves?

  20. -Insanity101- on

To everyone complaining, I’m unsure of how they would design a train system that would support wartime surges in public transport that wouldn’t also haemorrhage money in peace times due to train storage/moving empty trains/etc. What am I missing as far as that goes. It feels like the consequences of a demand surge are difficult for people to rationalise with the obvious causes.

  21. Drawn2temptation on

This might be part of a well used right-wing playbook on public services.
First make them unreliable and poor quality. Then when people are complaining and fed up with the services, flog it off cheap to your mates in “a much needed privatisation”.

  22. Blame the unions. They started the works THEN took industrial action. Be mad at right people, they are the ones holding you hostage. This is the equivalent of climate change protesters blocking peak hour traffic, they want to be noticed but are pissing off the wrong people.

  23. Every-Citron1998 on

My theory is they purposely make the rail bus experience horrible to encourage people to give up and drive or work from home.

The poor communication about the 3 days extension would have prevented many commutes from making other arrangements today.

  24. Majestic_Plane_1656 on

The federal government is to blame for you being late to work.

Actually doing your patriotic duty during a crisis as directed by the leadership. If your employer blames you they’re unAustralian but I can’t help but feel a lot of people are going to be hurt by this.
