Fréchette only won with 57.9% of the vote, which is surprising considering her dominant polling numbers relative to Drainville.
Either way, probably a good thing for the PQ and PCQ, as this lessens the CAQ’s appeal to right-wing voters, and bad for the PLQ, as it offers more competition for centrist federalists or sovereignty-agnostics, which may also split the anti-PQ vote. Will be interesting to see if Fréchette can truly avoid a wipeout for the CAQ.
