AKB: 40% of the 13th salary disappeared during the holiday and weekends outside Kosovo – mainly in Albania, RMV, Montenegro and Greece

The Kosovo Business Alliance has expressed concern regarding the 13th salary for the public sector, for which it said 65 million euros have been spent.
They have said that this decision, while it may have had a social purpose, turns out to be ineffective and not properly targeted.
“According to AKB’s estimates, around 40% of these funds have disappeared during the holidays and weekends outside Kosovo, mainly in Albania, North Macedonia, Montenegro and Greece, causing a significant portion of public money not to affect the development of the local economy. AKB estimates that these funds would have had a much greater effect if they had been oriented towards supporting the private sector, increasing local production, subsidizing investments, or supporting businesses that create new jobs,” AKB wrote in response.
They have said that unequal treatment between the public and private sectors creates an imbalance in the market and damages fair competition.
“In a time of economic challenges and rising prices, institutions should focus on policies that keep capital within the country and generate sustainable economic development,” the response states.
