BBC completely missed the major part of the story in this article. In the final minute update of the law, if you are not here due to humanitarian purposes, you must provide a current work contract in order to qualify. Wasn’t the entire purpose of this because undocumented migrants were working in Spain illegally, without contracts, under possible exploitative conditions? Politicians never cease to amaze me when they choose a “middle path” that can completely contradict itself.
