The Republic of Moldova will have two new ambassadors. Thus, Sergiu Mihov is to be appointed as our country’s ambassador to Japan, while Igor Moldovan will be the new Ambassador to the Republic of Kazakhstan. The decisions were approved today by the Government.
The draft decisions were presented at the meeting by the head of Moldovan diplomacy, Mihai Popșoi.
“Both candidates are career diplomats, Sergiu Mihov with over 25 years of experience within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) and Igor Moldovan with over 20 years of experience within the MFA. We have firm confidence, thanks to their experience, dedication and professionalism, that these two diplomatic missions will continue to deliver results in the interest of the citizens of the Republic of Moldova,” said Mihai Popșoi.
Sergiu Mihov is a career diplomat, with over 27 years of experience within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He has worked both in the field of bilateral and multilateral cooperation, including at the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Moldova to the Council of Europe. He has held management positions within the ministry and served as ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to the Republic of Lithuania. He currently holds the position of Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He holds the diplomatic rank of ambassador.
Igor Moldovan is a career diplomat, holds the rank of minister-counselor and has more than 20 years of experience in the diplomatic service and in the field of law. He has served as deputy head of mission at the embassies of the Republic of Moldova in the State of Israel and Ireland, as well as at the Permanent Representation to the UN Office in Geneva. Within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he has held various positions in the International Law Department, and he currently heads the Section for International Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Assistance. He holds a degree in law and postgraduate studies in security and European affairs.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will ensure the completion of all necessary procedures for the assumption of the mandates.
Also today, the Government decided to appoint Ion Revencu as deputy head of the Ungheni Territorial Office of the State Chancellery.
