LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Air France has officially launched direct service from Harry Reid International Airport to Paris, marking the first-ever nonstop connection between Las Vegas and the French capital.

The new route will operate three times a week on Air France’s Airbus A350-900, featuring business, premium and economy cabins for the 10-hour trip.

Tourism officials said France is already a strong market, with more than 82,000 French visitors to Las Vegas last year.

Economic impact

Fletch Brunell, vice president of marketing for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, said the new service represents significant economic potential for Southern Nevada.

“It’s significant in terms of volume. So, we’re looking at nearly 27,000 people that could come visit Las Vegas with a nonstop 10-hour flight,” Brunell said. “It also represents about $57 million in economic impact annually.”

The partnership between Air France, Harry Reid International and the LVCVA has been years in the making. Officials said they are already working to expand the service, with hopes of eventually offering daily, year-round flights.

Nicolas Henin, vice president for North America for Air France KLM, said opening a new route represents a major commitment for the airline.

“It’s the only route opening that we are doing this summer,” Henin said. “There’s a lot of data, a lot of thought behind that.”

Henin said data showed many people were already traveling between Las Vegas and Paris indirectly through other hubs before the direct service launched.

The flights will offer free champagne in economy class and free high-speed Wi-Fi in all cabins.
