The Moldovan Foreign Minister Mihai Popșoi strongly condemned today’s massive shelling of Ukraine by the Russian army and called for tightening sanctions against Russia.
He wrote this on his X page, underscoring the need to tighten sanctions and hold those responsible to account.
Moldova’s Reaction and the Consequences of the Shelling
“We strongly condemn the latest wave of Russia’s attacks on Ukraine, during which drones and missiles strike civilians and cause tragic human casualties, including among children.”

The head of the foreign affairs ministry of the country emphasized the need to impose tougher sanctions on Russia and to further coordinate actions with the international community.

According to Ukrainian air defense, in a 24-hour period from April 15 to April 16, 19 Kh-101 cruise missiles, 8 Iskander-M/S-400 missiles, 4 Iskander-K missiles, and 636 drones were destroyed.
In Kyiv, during a combined Russian attack on April 16, 54 people were injured, four were killed, including a 12-year-old boy.
In Odesa, after the Russian Federation’s attacks, nine people were killed and a further 23 were injured.
Such actions have sparked international concern and require a decisive response from the international community through intensified sanctions and coordinated security measures.
