  1. Yesterday the Court of Appeal found the laws “impermissibly burdened” the implied right to freedom of political communication under Australia’s constitution.

    Hmmmm

  2. Here we go, the taxpayers paying for the consequences of a premier who only had his political interests at heart.

The court summarised it the best

    >Perhaps most paradoxically of all, it would apply to a proposed public assembly in support of social cohesion.

    >There is no option under the impugned provisions other than to simply sweep up all public assemblies and subject them to the same restriction

So the taxpayer money was used to pay police to assault Sydneysiders and pay the government to illegally infringe on our rights, and we have to pay again in the form of court and lawyer fees, as well as damages and compensation. Going to be almost no repercussions for Minns and the rest who thought this was a good idea

My suspicion is that the Minns government always knew this was going to be the outcome. But, they also knew that these laws could and would not be struck down before Herzog’s visit.

These anti-protest laws were implemented solely to protect Herzog during his visit…
