Please share the store and location; I’d be happy to spend my fuel for those prices.

I can usually fill a box with fruit and veg from my local fruit shop for about $30-40 with a great selection. They’re often half the price of Colesworth. We feel very fortunate to have a local fruit shop, it saves us so much money.

Sure wish I had a local grocer..
Instead we get a coles and a woolies 5min walk from home, with the nearest alternative being almost 6km away with no public transport.
…also I just looked up their latest ‘specials’ catalog for the week and it’s more expensive than colesworth too 👍

They buy seconds or stuff for cheap when their is a surplus.

I read somewhere that Aldi and lidl in Europe run on profit margins of 0.05 – 1.5%. Coles and Woolies run on about 3.00% profit margin. That’s how they are making billions.

Reddit getting a little too local for my comfort lmao. I go here all the time. Some of the deli and dairy items are close to the expiry (1-2 weeks out usually) but never had an issue with anything I bought there.
Tomorrow is 2kg of chicken wings for $7 which is an insane deal

When you say “constantly” you mean until 20th April, or sold out, right?
Lots of stores have loss-leading promotional items from time to time, even colesworth, but it doesn’t mean that everything they sell is a bargain.

Maybe they are desperate and going out of business so they have those prices there? My local grocer is a gouge artist

Is this IGA or foodworks or something? I mainly shop at Aldi now but I haven’t seen the black and gold brand for years, I honestly thought it was Cole’s or Woolworths and just got replaced by their own in-house brand and phased out the black and gold.

Damn I’m not from Brisbane but I would sure love to support a smaller store. If anyone in Adelaide knows similar don’t hesitate to reach out.

Yeah… pretty much
Cocos, Rochedale, T-Bones, Tribe of Judah, etc. Hell even Costco puts Colesworth to shame on the regular… Even with the Membership Fee. I buy my eggs there on the regular, a 30pk goes for $12.79 or something close to that.

They know the vast majority are going to shop at colesworth no matter what

Indooroopilly Fruit is fancy as hell but their produce specials are still pretty dang good, and the quality is a lot more consistent and better than cocos/discount fruit shops.

what’s the wonder?
colesworth are rip off merchants, plain and simple
The big mushroom at Cleveland (near the traino) is awesome for prices too.

My local IGA always has milk about $1 for 2L less than ColesWorth.

The Standard Store in Newstead has similar prices. In that they also use numerical pricing. The similarities stop there though

I visited the global food market last Sunday in Woodridge. I was blown away by the price and quality of the produce there. Also a lot of different stuff you won’t see at colesworth. Will be going there every Sunday for all my fruit and veg now. Saved so much money.

They don’t run national marketing campaigns every day. A lot of what we pay for with premium companies is just to fund the fluffy stuff they do

Love Ollie’s! Also one closer by to me for North side folk – Cabbage Patch Grocer in Boondall/Deagon on Sandgate Rd. Guys are open 24 hours and have amazing prices for fruit/veg.
Jack Purcells butcher in Virginia is awesome for meat, and they sell bulk cuts for great prices (Whole Rib fillets for $24/kg or so)
Plus, Nundah/Carseldine Farmers markets
All that combined means the only things I get from Woolies are paper towels, TP, and soda water lol!
