Standing timber prices in Finland increased in March 2026, with higher standing sales prices for sawlogs and a slight increase in standing sales pulpwood prices after eight months of decline. The average standing sales price of spruce sawlogs rose 2% from February to Euro 80.13 per m3, pine sawlogs increased 1% to Euro 74.67 per m3, and birch sawlogs increased 3% to Euro 61.04 per m3, according to Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke) .
Standing sales prices for pulpwood also moved higher. Pine pulpwood rose to Euro 21.81 per m3, spruce pulpwood reached Euro 24.65 per m3, and birch pulpwood increased to Euro 22.85 per m3.
In delivery sales, pulpwood prices remained close to the February level. The average delivery sales price of pine pulpwood fell 1% to Euro 40.33 per m3, while spruce pulpwood was Euro 43.42 per m3 and birch pulpwood was Euro 43.39 per m3.
Compared with the previous year as a whole, standing sales prices were 8% lower for pine sawlogs, 4% lower for spruce sawlogs, and 8% lower for birch sawlogs. Standing sales pulpwood prices were 30% lower for pine, 26% lower for spruce, and 27% lower for birch. Delivery sales prices were 22% lower for pine pulpwood, 18% lower for spruce pulpwood, and 17% lower for birch pulpwood.
Industrial roundwood purchases from private forests in March were 19% lower than a year earlier. The volume was also 21% below the average for the previous five years.
In January-March, cumulative roundwood trade was 22% lower than a year earlier and 15% below the five-year average. Compared with the previous five years, logwood trade decreased 8%, while pulpwood trade declined 22%. Purchases of spruce sawlogs declined less than those of the other assortments.
