The Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, H.E. Shalva Papuashvili, met with the President of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia, Afrim Gashi.

 

Shalva Papuashvili expressed gratitude to the North Macedonian side for its support of Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

 

During the meeting, emphasis was placed on the importance of deepening cooperation between Georgia and North Macedonia at both the parliamentary level and in the fields of trade and economy, as well as tourism.

 

The discussion also covered the relations of both countries with the European Union, along with their progress and challenges as EU candidate countries in the process of European integration.

 

The meeting took place in Istanbul, Turkey, within the framework of the 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU). The delegation, led by the Speaker, includes the Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee, Nikoloz Samkharadze, and the Chair of the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee, Maia Bitadze.
