The Fishermen’s Federation has announced the temporary suspension of fishing for the “carp” fish species in all lakes and rivers of the Republic of Kosovo. The decision entered into force on April 15 and will last until May 31.

According to the official announcement, during this period only fishing will be allowed in the “Catch & Release” form, prohibiting the keeping of fish in nets or other forms of preservation.

The Federation has announced that all sport and recreational fishing associations that are part of it are obliged to implement this decision.

Otherwise, disciplinary and administrative measures will be taken against violators in accordance with applicable regulations.

Federal guards have also been notified of the implementation of this decision, and they will monitor the area throughout the suspension period.

This decision is expected to impact the protection and regeneration of the carp population during the breeding season.
