Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia on Friday, April 17, 2026, presided over the consecration of a chapel and a newly built monastery residence at the Monastery of Mislođin, on the feast of the Life-Giving Spring (Bright Friday).
In his address, the Patriarch emphasized the love of God for humanity, noting: “God is love. He gives His whole self for us. He calls everyone into the joy of encountering Him… but it is necessary that we too desire that embrace of God.”
Prior to the Divine Liturgy, the chapel dedicated to the feast of the Mother of God was consecrated, followed by the blessing of the new monastery residence.
Referring to the meaning of the feast, the Patriarch recalled that, just as in past centuries the faithful gathered at the “Life-Giving Spring” near Constantinople seeking healing, so today believers continue to gather in faith, offering thanksgiving to God.
He further underlined that, despite human weakness, it is essential to recognize God’s love and cultivate a longing for Him: “The human mind cannot comprehend how God loves us… yet we must have within us a longing and an unquenchable thirst for Him.”
The service was held in a prayerful atmosphere, with the participation of Abbess Justina and more than two hundred faithful. Concelebrating with the Patriarch were Bishops Nikon of Jenopolje and Petar of Toplica, along with clergy and deacons.
It is noted that the restoration of the Monastery of Mislođin began in 2010 with the blessing of the late Metropolitan Amfilohije. The monastery church, dedicated to Saint Christopher, was consecrated in 2015 by the late Patriarch Irinej, with benefactor Ljubinka Pejica.
