This makes a lot of sense to me. If you installed a wider bench, it would be quickly taken by drunkards. A single person bench is still enough for an elderly person to take a rest for a while, but it’s not as attractive for a group of people who want to make a party there 😉

Just one of those benches is a bit strange though …
This bench is not anchored. It was clearly moved from another place that had mlre benches. By someone who wanted to be alone. Its not that hard.
Someone comes there often, smokes a cigarette and drinks a beer.
