    It’s actually impressive that they were both unable to predict the very predictable firestorm, and walk it all back so quickly lmao.

    Can’t wait to see what this ends up costing taxpayers when all is said and done.

    The funniest part of this whole saga isn’t even how absolutely predictable this end result was but how it likely doesn’t even rank in the top five of absolutely absurd things that Doug Ford has done.

  3. I don’t think it’s necessairly unreasonable for the province to own a plane (leasing or chartering is probably better, and maybe not a jet so that it can operate out of more remote locations), just that the amount of bullshit Ford has been involved in doesn’t leave much room for trust lol.

    Lay out the financial case. Show what they are spending, versus what they will spend with a jet. If it makes sense, do it.

      This governing by polls is moronic and wastes a fortune.

  5. Far from the first time – some other Ford govt u-turns:

    * Greenbelt scandal
    * Using the notwithstanding clause to send striking education workers back to work
    * The blue licence plates
    * Peel Region dissolution

    And to think ford and his crew are responsible for making life changing decisions in a province of 16M people.

    This is just another example of poor judgement. The problem I have with it is that it only takes a scintilla of common-sense to know how this was not a good use of tax dollars AND how it would play out wrt optics. Doesn’t say much for these shot-callers.

    So much much did it cost to procure the jet and how much is it going to cost to resell? Such a massive waste of tax payer dollars for something so obviously wasteful.

    This might one of the funniest flip flops in a while. It took less than a week for them to commit to selling it. Maybe try floating the idea of the purchase next time, lol.

    Everyone gotta pay 1.92 for that… not horribly wasteful but I don’t see that returning an efficiency

    Especially losing beer store money now (sure made money closing locations but now I can’t get a 1L of milk from my corner store)…

    Also especially because we running a deficit…

    Like the OPP costs like 120$ each person per year…

    Currently running $12–13B (800$/person) and he gave 200$ cheques (which I’m for people making below 100k/year) to everyone is showing in that debt now.

    Ford doing the classic bribing us with our own money… SMDH

  10. Ontario is big, so if he wanted to get to Tbay or Moose Factory regularly, a plane is reasonable. But why not use one of the scareskin turboprops?

    I think the f#ckers actually thought that the public wouldn’t notice the plane purchase buried in amongst all the other shit

  12. As a penalty, he should have to put that money from the sale right into our healthcare funding. This will really drive the point home for Doug, he hates funding it or education more than anything else so this punishment will really make him think about this stupid stuff in the future 🤣

    In older times when people did something this wrong they had tovpay triple damages … we need to get to some really old time english law.

    Extensive travel? Like $28.9M worth? This makes no sense. How much travel would you need to do the get value out of that jet?

    >”Despite the best of intentions, I have heard and agree that now is not the right time for the expense of a government plane,” he said.

    How did this guy win two majorities again? What a self-serving buffoon. A classic tale of “I’m only sorry because I got caught”

    Unlike the Alberta UCPs, at least Ford recognizes that he shouldn’t have purchased the plane in the first place. The UCPs would just tell Albertans to fuck off.
