The FIDE World Senior Team Championships have started in Durres, Albania. The competitions feature age categories of “50+” and “65+”.
Two Russian teams are competing under the FIDE flag in the “65+” group, which has 54 teams from 28 countries.
In round one, Team FIDE scored a shutout victory over the German women’s team (Alexander Raetsky, Evgenij Kalegin, Alexej Gorbatov, and Vladimir Ponfilenok won their games). Team FIDE (W) defeated Ireland-2 with a score of 3.5–0.5 (Tatiana Bogumil, Elena Fatalibekova, and Larisa Khropova won their games, while Natalia Titorenko made a draw).
Round two pits the men’s team against Albania and the women’s team against Slovakia.
