Thomas Sunday, also known as Antipascha, was solemnly celebrated throughout the Orthodox Church of Albania, with Divine Liturgies held in major cathedrals and local parishes across the country.
In Tirana, the celebration took place at the Resurrection Cathedral, where the Archbishop of Albania presided over the Divine Liturgy. Services were also held in the metropolitan cathedrals of Korçë, Gjirokastër, Berat, Fier, and Elbasan.
Metropolitan Anastasios of Korçë celebrated the feast at the Church of the Apostle Thomas in Tisfllik, while Metropolitan Astios of Berat officiated at the Church of Saint Thomas in Berat. In Tepelenë, Metropolitan Nathanael of Gjirokastër served at the Church dedicated to the Apostles Thomas and John. Meanwhile, Metropolitan Antonios of Elbasan presided over the Divine Liturgy at the Church of Saint Athanasios.
During the homily delivered at the cathedral in Tirana, a clergyman emphasized the Gospel account of the Risen Christ’s encounter with the Apostle Thomas. He highlighted how Christ, understanding Thomas’ inner struggle and human weakness, invited him not only to see but also to touch the wounds of the Crucifixion. This personal encounter led Thomas to confess the divinity of Christ, offering a timeless example of faith overcoming doubt.
