The Jags scored the opening goal of the match to take a 1-0 lead, and they didn’t look back from there. They added to their lead throughout the first half to finish with a 3-0 lead going into the halftime break.
From there, Spain Park left little doubt as it stepped on the gas and finished strong. The Jags racked up five goals in the second half to secure the 8-0 victory and book a spot in the playoffs.
Libby Gray led the way for Spain Park with a hat trick of three goals. Six total goal-scorers found the back of the net for the Jags, including a goal apiece for Morgan Anthony, Addison Bayne, Cadence Leemon, Priscilla Thornton and Mitchell Leib.
Spain Park improved to 7-8-3 overall and 4-2 in area play with the win. The Jags will finish the regular season on Monday, April 20 at 5:30 p.m. on the road at Indian Springs School. From there, they will head to Helena to face the Huskies in the first round on Friday, April 24 at 5:30 p.m.
Pelham dropped to 9-11-2 and 0-6 in area play. While the Panthers are eliminated from playoff contention, they have two chances to finish the season strong. They will head on the road to face the Susan Moore Bulldogs on Monday, April 20 at 5:30 p.m. and host the John Carroll Catholic Cavaliers on Tuesday, April 21 at 5:30 p.m.
