When it became paid (11.5 per day) I took out a contracted motorcycle parking spot in a commercial lockup underground garage and pay less (4.5 per day) for a far better parking spot.

I get they have responded to the supply crunch with the abundance of scooters and moto commuters such as myself but at they should at least make it fairly priced.

  2. I’ve routinely seen motorbike riders mention this happening at once-free parking spots for a few years now as reported on here

This happened to me in the CBD near eagle street, no information there was a change, or announcement of a change. They told me I should have looked at the sign.

But it’s ok to run an offshore company who’s business model is dumping escooters on streets with no genuine control to ensure they aren’t blocking pedestrians and helmets that end up scattered across the city.

That explains why I’ve seen these bays partially empty from about 6-9mths ago. I even asked a colleague if they had noticed. It use to be packed but now you’ll find plenty of free bays throughout the day.

Thats the dodgiest revanue raising scheme ive seen in a while, like people are gonna look for yellow take, its so dystopian “you didnt pay us so we are going to squeeze you for money, what do you mean you didnt see our sticker? It was on the other side of that caution tape”

People ride a bike to save space and lower emissions and congestion.
Rewarded with removing the major incentive of free city parking.
If you’re forced to pay parking you may as-well do it from the comfort of your dry climate controlled car.
    I don’t get it.

  8. I can recommend complaining to BCC on this. It likely won’t change anything but at least someone will need to take the time to deal with the complaint.

They have removed almost all of the Alice St parking and rely on pumping up the number of free parks that aren’t in reasonable walking distance of the CBD.

Be sure to mention Cellopark’s predatory pricing model, horrible app and data breaches.
