Iceland customers are insisting that a product currently sold in stores could be “better than the chippy“, and made at home in less than 10 minutes. Some have even urged the retailer not to “ever change” the recipe, describing it as being “so tasty”.
Priced at £2.95 online, Iceland stocks its own-brand version of Lamb Doner Grillsteaks in packs of four. Iceland bosses explained in the product description that they incorporate “doner-style seasoning” into the lamb grillsteaks, offering a twist on the traditional favourite.
The packaging indicates that these meaty options can be pan-fried or grilled from frozen in approximately 10 minutes. The fastest way to make them is using an air fryer, cooking for up to eight minutes at 180°C and flipping halfway through.
Online customers can submit product reviews for Iceland items they have bought. Based on the eight reviews, these steaks have an average rating of 4.5 out of five stars, according to the Mirror.
One shopper said: “Wish I could give these six stars. A really good doner taste to the lamb burgers, went perfectly with a pitta bread and salad. Absolutely will purchase again.”
Another claimed it was “better than the donner meat from the chippy”. A third person commented: “Great [for a] quick cook with a nice doner taste. [Goes] great with mayo or chutney.”
Someone else put: “We love these products, the taste is amazing. Don’t ever change [it] because it’s OK as it is.” One more said: “Great love them so tasty been after them for ages, so glad I got them [and I] will be getting more”
The only review that didn’t give five stars was a three-star rating, though it offered no reason as to why it fell short compared to the others. Iceland offers a lot of choices on its website, along with a home delivery booking service.
Iceland shoppers can find their nearest store, which might be one of the bigger Food Warehouse branches, using the online tool here. It shows the opening times of all shops along with contact details, location and other details – such as if there is parking on-site or if alcohol is sold in store.
One point worth noting is that each of these flavoured steaks contains 1.2g of salt once cooked, according to the nutritional information. The NHS advises on its website that adults in the UK should consume no more than 6g of salt daily (roughly equivalent to one level teaspoon).
Consuming excessive salt can lead to high blood pressure, which raises the risk of heart attacks and strokes. When your blood pressure is elevated, it places additional strain on your blood vessels, heart and other organs, including your brain, kidneys and eyes.
Lifestyle modifications and blood pressure medication can help you maintain good health. You can get more information and advice about high blood pressure from Blood Pressure UK or the British Heart Foundation.
