The Croatian government has introduced measures to stabilise fuel prices while proposing legal changes that would allow faster intervention in the event of escalating tensions in the Middle East.

Officials announced that fuel prices will fall slightly over the next two weeks, with diesel and petrol both becoming cheaper under a new pricing regulation. Without government intervention, authorities said, prices would be significantly higher.

At the same time, Finance Minister Tomislav Ćorić proposed amendments to the VAT law that would allow temporary adjustments to taxes on energy products. The move is designed to give the government greater flexibility to respond to sudden market disruptions.

While officials said the measures are precautionary, they acknowledged that ongoing geopolitical instability continues to pose risks to energy markets and the broader economy.
