Is it discounting “hazel” or brown variations from brown cause there’s no way many of those countries like Austria are mostly non brown.

Worth noting that there’s eye colors that’s not brown and probably not counted, like green or hazel or grey.

As a green-eyed Turk, I think this map is wrong. If we exclude blue and gray eyes and include brown-blue/gray hybrids like green and hazel, 95% of the world has brown eye pigment, and I do too.

Is Italy right? I was told that I could pass for Italian but my dark eyes would betray me.

I live in Finland and only found out brown eyes exist last year since like 90% of Finnish have blue eyes. (I have probably seen them in movies but I haven’t paid attention)

I’m British, and my sister & I are the only two people in our family (maternal side) with brown eyes – probably because our dad is mixed race (Jamaican father, English mother). Everyone else has blue or green eyes.
I remember always wanting blue eyes growing up. I appreciate my brown eyes more now because they’re less common.

There’s more than 2 eye colours.

Couldn’t the >60% category have been subdivided more? I mean there should be difference in rate of light eyes in Mediterranean countries and subsaharan countries for example.

As an Irish person with green eyes, this is true. 90% of the people in my life have blue eyes. I only have green eyes because of my dad who is very dark but he’s not Irish

Really? The UK? I don’t think so.

I feel like you could have a few more levels of gradient before lumping all the >60% together

No matter what your eye color, you won’t be able to find the pixels in this map.

Hmmm. Interesting. Not sure if there’s a correlation here, but countries that have higher blue eyes also tend to have higher alcohol consumption. Purely anecdotal lol
