Investigators traced the suspect to the Czech Republic after months of surveillance and coordination. The arrest revealed links to a wider human smuggling ring.

    A 20-year-old man from Khmelnytskyi region has been brought back from the Czech Republic to Ukraine, and he is suspected of involvement in illegally transporting men across the state border.

    The Main Directorate of the National Police in Khmelnytskyi Oblast reported the incident, and the press service confirmed the information.

    “The criminal activity of the accomplices was uncovered by investigators of the Strategic Investigations Department in the autumn of 2024… One of the defendants, a 22-year-old resident of Slavuta, was arrested while receiving $9,000 from a client whom they promised to take abroad and provide the necessary documents. He has already been sentenced. However, the younger participant of the criminal group managed to leave the country,” the report says.

    According to law enforcement, the wanted 20-year-old man was located in the Czech Republic and was recently extradited to Ukraine, where he was handed over to the authorities.

    The suspect is currently in custody. He is charged with part 3 of article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal transportation of persons across the state border). The investigation is ongoing.

    Earlier, a man suspected of a series of thefts of navigational equipment from agricultural machinery in Khmelnytskyi region was extradited from Poland to Ukraine.
