Elements of the national clothing heritage were showcased at an international fashion event held on April 25 in the People’s Republic of China, where the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in China took part in JinShang International Fashion & Culture gala.

The event, World Weave – Fashion Weaves the World as One, brought together fashion creations from more than ten countries, aiming to promote intercultural dialogue through fashion.

For the runway show, the embassy provided traditional Moldovan outfits, presented on the catwalk alongside costumes from other states. This offered the public an opportunity to discover the specifics of the national costume.

“The presence of the Republic of Moldova offered the audience a visual journey into its clothing heritage, highlighting hand embroidery and the symbolism of specific decorative motifs,” according to the diplomatic mission.

In the same context, organizers and participants were informed about the international recognition of the traditional blouse which has been included in UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, a status that confirms the value and authenticity of this heritage element.
