Former Dimond soccer standout Ariela Lewis is playing professionally in Iceland.
A dream start by Anchorage’s Ariela Lewis in the Icelandic Cup turned into a nightmare for her opponent on Sunday.
The former All-CIC forward out of Dimond, who is now playing professionally in Iceland, bagged two goals in the first six minutes and a hat trick by the 49th minute before adding another in the 52nd minute to cap a four-goal game for Keflavik in an 8-3 win over KT Reykjavik.
In last week’s Icelandic Cup first round, Lewis scored in the 33rd minute to help Keflavik win 2-1.
Lewis, 31, has been money in the Icelandic Cup in each of the last two years, netting a total of seven goals in four matches and scoring at least once in each appearance.
She joined Keflavik in 2024 on loan from another club in country and wound up signing through the 2026 season.
Last year, she won her team’s Golden Shoe Award after scoring a club-best seven goals in the champions league.
Playing in a contract year has brought out the best in Lewis, who scored two goals to power a 4-1 in the season opener.
She also scored in a 3-3 draw on April 7 and again in a 2-1 win on April 18.
Lewis, a 2013 Dimond grad, played collegiately at NCAA Division I Alabama State University, where she scored 57 career goals and was named SWAC Offensive Player of the Year and Tournament Most Valuable Player.

She started her pro career in 2019 in Sweden and stayed the course through a two-year break because of COVID. In 2022, she came to Iceland and signed with Grotta Knattspyrna.
In 2024, Lewis was loaned to Keflavik and the rest is history.
“I’ll play as long as I can,” said told me in 2022. “If it’s another 10 years that’ll be amazing. I’m aiming for that.”
She’s halfway there and doesn’t appear to be losing steam.
