I had a small but somehow memorable encounter on a FlixTrain 1247 Hamburg–Leipzig on a Sunday evening (01.03.26), and it’s been on my mind ever since.
I was on my way to Berlin and ended up sitting next to a tall man with blond-reddish hair. We were seated at the end of the carriage — he said those were actually the best and most spacious seats on the train.
What struck me was how easy and relaxed the conversation felt, even though I wasn’t particularly talkative. He was open, calm, and somehow just… present.
At some point during the ticket check, I had a bit of an issue, and he stepped in and helped me out, even arguing with the staff on my behalf and basically getting me through. I never really got the chance to properly thank him for that.
We also had this small moment where he said something along the lines of not going online all the time and just enjoying the view instead — which, for some reason, stuck with me.
Then things ended quite abruptly. I had to get off unexpectedly, and it was clear he didn’t really see it coming. The last thing he said was: “Gute Weiterreise, die Dame!”
Now I’m wondering — do encounters like this ever actually lead anywhere, or do they just stay what they are: brief, self-contained moments?
And well… if by any chance you happen to read this — feel free to reach out.

Everything leads somewhere, if you try hard enough… Good luck!
Looks like the severance set
Ich habe, auch wegen der Bilder, bis zum Schluss an eine Mystery Story geglaubt. 😅
Hinterher stellt sich heraus das er auf den Fotos nicht zu sehen ist, weil Geist – oder so.
Oh hey, it’s that post again, but expanded by an LLM now!
Definitely doesn’t happen on DB regio trains lol
None of my train conversations ever led anywhere. Never saw them again. Except one time, when I had a nice conversation with an elderly man from Bavaria who was into RC planes and amateur radio. We met two weeks later because he wanted to give me his old FPV drone as a gift 😄
