Really sad to hear this – he was one of my favourite Irish actors. Fantastic in Banshees and The Guard.

I was in Dublin Youth Theatre with Gary, a great talent from the get go RIP

Weirdly enough the first role that came to mind was On Home Ground, a RTE show about a gaelic football club from 20 odd years ago.

      Great actor, he’ll be missed.

That’s a shame, always hoped he’d play Bertie in some scathing movie about critiquing the Celtic tiger

One of the real “it’s yer man from all those things” actors of the last good long while, and a very good one at that. Sad to head, and hopefully his family are doing OK.

    6. Only saw him on stage the other week. A master of his craft. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.

That’s so strange. He popped into my head yesterday and I googled him to find out his name. Christ be with him.

    9. Ah that’s a shame, can’t say I knew his name but he always seemed to pop up in Irish films.

    10. Saw him as Gogo in Waiting for Godot absolutely ages ago and he was unreal. Was always good seeing him pop up on screen too, always nailed whatever role he was in.

I thought of this sub when I read about this in the paper earlier.

(Died terribly young, and a really huge loss to drama. He was always extremely compelling. I though he was especially brilliant, (and in the police of course), in Bad Sisters)

Hmm sez I to meself. Born in London. Will the usual crowd insist that he was a *British* actor, like they insist about many Irish stars born in England to Irish parents?
Not today, I see. Well., thank god for one bit of sense and decency.
